Lowndes High School Students Learn about the Pathway to College

VALDOSTA --Aspiring education majors from Lowndes High School’s Teaching as Profession class visited Valdosta State University’s Dewar College of Education and Human Services on May 15.

The purpose of the visit was to inform the junior and senior students about the Valdosta State admissions process and options of education degrees available at Valdosta State University.

According to Dr. Brian Gerber, interim dean of the Dewar College of Education and Human Services, the LHS students were given information about scholarship opportunities, the admissions process, and specific program requirements for their area of interest.

“The students returned to LHS with excitement about starting college,” said Amy Carter, Lowndes High School Teaching as a Profession Coordinator and Work-Based Learning Coordinator. “They felt they were given great information by the College of Education specialists who sat down with them based on the area of education each are pursuing.”
